Slip dresses have been a wardrobe favorite of mine since the 1990s. While my slip dresses of the 90s were mostly florals on a black background, now, I love finding slip dresses in solid colors and various fabrications, like this faux leather one from ELOQUII.
I can’t make up my mind whether I want to go a little shorter with this dress, maybe just slightly above the knee, but it’s getting tons of wear this season regardless. I have been wearing it everywhere! If the dress looks familiar, you my remember that I featured it on the blog before, layered under a duster which has got to be my favorite way to wear a slip dress! For today’s look, I decided to switch up the layering by throwing the dress on over a sheer blouse from Who What Wear x Target. The sheer top has the sweetest embroidered flowers and puffy sleeves – something I have never seen in a sheer top.As an FYI, this shirt runs on the smaller side, both in length and overall size. I’m wearing my normal size 1X, but the length is perfect for me at 4’9”. If you’re on the tall side, you may need to go up a size just for length. It doesn’t have any stretch, so if you typically rely on stretch for a better across the bust or in the arms, you may need to size up.
I finished the look with a fun faux fur purse and the always trusty black booties. I really love how the look turned out and can see myself wearing it a lot of places.
Are you a fan of slip dresses? If so, did you wear them in the 90s too?
What do you think – should I go a little shorter with the dress?
