Shop Your Closet: The Flare Leg Crops

It’s time for another Shop Your Closet!  These are my favorite posts because I think it’s important for the pieces in one’s wardrobe to be able to work for a variety of situations.  I saw these ruffled crop pants, and I thought they would be a great pair of pants for casual Fridays at work.

My firm doesn’t allow us to wear cropped pants except on casual days, so I knew that this would limit how often I could wear them.  I decided that if I were going to get these pants, I needed to come up with some other ways to wear them, and I soon realized that they would be great for date nights, casual looks, and a lot more.  Here are a few of the ideas that I created by shopping my closet!

Since I had originally envisioned these pants for work, I decided to create a modern take on spring suiting for the first styling.
I wanted to do a twist on the basic black suit, white button-down shirt combo by incorporating extra details like the ruffled crop, and the pleated peplum on the blouse.
I completed the graphic look with white earrings and mules and a black and white clutch.

For a simple evening look, I paired the crops with sandals and an off-the-shoulder floral blouse.  This look is ultra-feminine, but it doesn’t feel too sweet and precious. I added dramatic beaded tassel earrings and a faux fur purse for a fun touch.

These pants are named after fellow petite plus blogger Jaye of Style Over Size, so I decided to create a look inspired by Jaye’s style.
I gave these girly crops a more casual streetwear vibe by pairing the pants with a knotted t-shirt, bomber jacket, and comfy sneakers.
This look was the most out of my comfort zone, but I was surprised by how much I liked it.

For a casual summer look, I may also try pairing these crops with some flat sandals, a simple top, and a straw bag.

What about you?  How would you style these pants?

  1. Your smile and hairstyle are adorable with all three of your outfits. From most favorite to least favorite… 2nd outfit, 1st outfit, and 3rd outfit. Cropped flares can be quite cute. I usually like cropped flares with dramatic shoes to show off. I could interchange the 1st and 2nd outfits for the best, but I think the difference is with the floral blouse and the sandals of the 2nd outfit over the mules of the 1st outfit. You styled this well in all three outfits. So well done, Cassandra!
