Shop Your Closet: Stripe Delight

I’m always a fan of stripes, and when I saw these pieces from ELOQUII, I couldn’t pass them up!I knew that the pieces would look amazing together, but that they would also pair well as separates with my orange suit, denim, and so much more.
Off-the-shoulder styles continue to be popular, and I like that the shoulder straps give this one a little more stability.
Like most of my wardrobe, I had both of these pieces tailored to fit me.  The skirt has a zipper vent, so it couldn’t easily be shortened.  I decided instead to have it taken in for a super pencil-y fit.  Taking the skirt in also made it appear a little shorter too, an added bonus. I loved the length of the blouse, but the sleeves were a little long – I had the bell portion of the sleeve moved up to shorten the sleeve.  These are simple alterations, but they truly make a world of difference, don’t you agree?!This outfit has a fun vibe, perfect for a lot of different occasions, but by simply adding a blazer and changing the shoes, I have a chic, pulled-together work look.
I only created two looks for today’s Shop Your Closet, but I really wanted to emphasize how easy it can be to create two very different looks out of the exact same pieces.  A fun matchy-matchy combo can easily transition from weekend to workday.  I love the transition from a downtown vibe to a very uptown feel that was created simply by adding a blazer and changing up the accessories.
While I didn’t show more looks today, I definitely plan to try the top with jeans or shorts and will pair the skirt with other top and blazer/sweater combos for work.
Are you a fan of wearing stripes?  If you try on an item and the fit is a little off, is it a no-go for you or do you get it tailored?
