In honor of Labor Day, today’s post features fun takes on office wear in the form of classics done up in decidedly office-inappropriate ways. Most of us in the States have the day off, so I thought it was a good Monday to feature non-work work wear! 🙂
When I purchased this pencil skirt, I initially thought of it as a work piece. It’s definitely getting some wear at work, but the thigh high slit also makes it a flirty option for non-work situations as well.
The one-shoulder top and strappy heels add additional flirty vibes. The top pairs well with a pencil skirt for a streamlined, polished look. I really love mixing stripes, so I added a striped clutch in a contrasting color palette.
For the second look, the white stripes are more subtle, in the form of pinstripes. There’s nothing more classic than pinstripes and crisp white shirting, which is why I love the decidedly modern and non-classic take on both in this look.
The skinny pants have an elastic waist and are super comfortable. The tunic is fun and a little sexy. The chain-strap Mary Janes are also a twist on a classic style, making them a good pairing with this look.
As is, I definitely couldn’t get by with wearing either look for work, but since today is Manic Monday, I want to point out that I have easily transitioned both looks to the office by simply adding a cardigan or blazer to cover my shoulders.
As I discussed in my last post, I am all about pieces that can be transitioned from work to evenings and weekends, and these pieces can surely be made work-appropriate with a little layering. I am considering adding a black bodysuit under the tops as another layering option for work.
I’m really excited about these pieces – just look at this face! LOLCould you wear an off-the-shoulder top to work? Would you style these tops for work through layering, or would you save these tops for off-duty?
