Manic Monday: Make It Personal

Hope those of you who celebrate Easter had a nice holiday!  We kept things simple this year and just had a quiet dinner at home with the kids.  I took some quiet time to de-stress from a crazy week by spending the morning in bed sleeping in late and then just resting.   I then did some blog photos and played a little basketball with the kids.Yesterday definitely provided some much needed R&R, but today, it’s back to work.

I feel like my work style gets a little more casual in the spring and summer, but lately, I have been trying to look a little more polished.  This embroidered skirt is such a great versatile piece that I can style in a few different ways.  The colors of the embroidery make it easy to pair with a variety of tops and jackets or sweaters.
For today’s look, I paired the skirt with a white blouse and orange blazer to bring out one of the main colors in the embroidery.
I went with a 14 Petite in this skirt and still had it taken in a little through the hips/legs.  The item description says to size up, but I did not.  ELOQUII bottoms are always usually a little big in the hips and thighs for me and sometimes the waist.  This skirt was perfect in the waist but still a tad big through the legs.  If you are bigger on bottom, it may make sense to size up in this skirt.  Otherwise, I would personally recommend ordering your usual size.  It is a heavy cotton fabric and has no stretch except in the back of the waistband.
I kept the shoes and bag simple and more classic in black, but I felt like this skirt deserved a little extra jewelry.  I threw on a long tassel necklace, large gold hoops, and a few bracelets to complete the look.
I love how professional this outfit is while still maintaining so much personality.  I never like feeling stuffy, and this look definitely doesn’t do that.

This skirt is such a great statement piece – I can’t wait to pair it with an army jacket for a more casual look.
How do you add flair to your work wardrobe?
