There’s something about a printed midi skirt that can be so fun and versatile.
I usually crave a pretty midi skirt whenever it’s warm outside, and over the summer, I picked up this one with a gorgeous mixed neutral print with pops of muted red.
This skirt is my sartorial summer happy place. The print is fun and inviting. It includes my favorite color palette, and it’s graphic and interesting without feeling over-the-top. The fabric is a lightweight cotton that makes it a great choice for humid Midwestern summers!I have worn this skirt to work with a black knit top and soft khaki trench, and it is equally cute with a crop top and sandals.
For today’s look, I added a cool tee with a tassel design (tassels!!!) and ankle-wrap heels. The straw clutch and cat-eye sunglasses add to the 50s retro feel of the skirt shape, while the print and tassels on the tee and earrings give this look a more modern, bohemian feel. I really love mixing elements of different decades into one look in a way that feels natural and balanced.
And, I also love that the straw clutch adds another dimension of print and texture to the look! The outfit has so many prints and textures, but because of the mostly neutral color palette, it doesn’t feel overwhelming.
Do you like mixed print looks? What decades inspire you style-wise?
