Casual Friday: Weekend Warrior

Can’t wait for the weekend to rock this casual look.  This deconstructed ruffled skirt is so fun. I love that it feels both ultra feminine with a Little House on the Prairie vibe and sort of Mad Max edgy.   It’s a perfect juxtaposition.
The stripes on the skirt also give it a preppy feel, which I will likely play up more this summer with a white top and sandals or sneakers.

For today’s look, I styled this skirt for that in-between weather – that weird transitional spring weather when the temperatures quickly go up and down.
Because this skirt was giving me such varied vibes, I wanted to maintain that mix of hard and soft with my styling.  The lace bralette adds a soft and feminine detail while the moto jacket and booties add a toughness.
I am debating getting it hemmed though.  It’s supposed to be more of a midi length, but it fits me perfectly as a maxi.  I can’t decide whether to keep it long or move the ruffles up.  What do you think?
I love wearing bralettes under slip dresses and casual rompers, but I have never worn one as a top before.  I’m kind of digging it!
Even though the bralette is lace, I don’t feel exposed, and it’s a perfect cropped length for a high-waisted skirt.  I think it’s time to invest in more of these!
Have you worn a bralette as a top?

  1. Girlfriend, I came of age in the 80s and 90s so, yeah, I’ve worn a bra as a top! Think Madonna. Back in the day, before all the uncomfortable and unnecessary padding and boning was added to them, we just called them bras! There was no such thing as a bralette.

Love the outfit. I’d hem it only because I’m disabled and I’d trip and kill myself on it. But if that’s not a concern for you, leave it as it is.
