I have never been an athletic person. While I used to exercise a ton, thanks to a total lack of coordination, sports and me have always been un-mix-y things!
Even though I lack the athletic gene, I still enjoy some sporty influences in my fashion. I absolutely adore this dress from ELOQUII. The cold shoulders are done in such an unusual way that even though this trend has reached its saturation point in my eyes, this dress feels amazingly fresh. The stripes and pleats make me imagine a 1920s tennis outfit, and the graphic color palette of black, white, and blue feels very athletic-inspired.
But, even with all of its sporty influences, this dress just feels super sophisticated and chic. I paired it with white sneakers today for a simple casual look, but I can easily see myself pairing the dress with mules or a strappy heel for an even more sophisticated feel.
For all you petites, I also want to point out that I had the dress hemmed. Thankfully, the stripes are actually individual pieces of fabric sewn together, so to avoid losing the stripe detail, I had the striped pieces moved up and simply removed some of the black part of the dress. The result was perfect!
Do you like athletic-inspired fashion? How would you style this dress?
P.S. The weird tan lines on my shoulders and face are from my son’s track meet. Fortunately for him, he inherited the athletic gene form his dad. Unfortunately for me, I forgot the sunscreen this past weekend and ended up with a bad sunburn. 🙁
