Casual Friday: Sneakers & Chambray

Lately, I have been looking for shoes with lower heels.  On my days off from work, I am opting more and more for sneakers.  I reallllly rejected the sneaker trend for a long time.  It didn’t really feel like my aesthetic, and I wasn’t very impressed by the appearance of most sneakers.  That said, sneakers are a trend that I really should have been on board with, if only for the sake of comfort.
My feet and legs need a rest from all the heels, so I have been on the hunt for sneakers that I like for a while now.  Since the athleisure and sneaker trends show no immediate signs of slowing down, there are a ton of sneaker options available now in such a variety of fabrics, textures, and designs.
While at a shoe store with my sneakerhead son, this Adidas style caught my eye.  I didn’t get them at the time, but a month or two later, while at another shoe store with my son, I saw these shoes again.  I remembered how much I had loved them and decided to give them a try.  These have an “Ortholite” sole which makes them super comfortable.  I am wearing a kids’ size, but they also come in men’s and women’s sizing.
I love the textured, woven fabric of these sneakers and the two-tone color combination.  They have a cool aesthetic that makes these feel more suited to the streets than the court.  The design makes these perfect for pairing with a range of styles.  Of course, denim and chambray have always paired well with sneakers, so for today’s look, I paired my new kicks with a chambray cold-shoulder dress and threw a moto jacket around my shoulders. I wore this outfit last weekend for a casual Sunday brunch with the family.  It was such a comfortable, low-key choice!
Are you a fan of wearing sneakers?  What do you pair yours with?

  1. I wear black Sketcher stretchy sneaks with everything: dresses, jeans, skirts, shorts etc. I wear alot of comfortable shoes besides those for home and work like leather clog crocs, crocs, chacos, mohop, and even have a couple cute pair of flat fluevogs and wesco boots. And two pair of mens knee high boots: one platform by Experience and one flat custom by wesco boots. I’m in my 40s with a repeated hip injury so comfortable shoe options are a must. I still have my dangerously beatiful shoes, I’m just picky when I wear them. For an in between comfy and dressy, I go with wedges or platforms.
